An opportunity to share your thoughts on “urban air mobility” and what it might mean for our neighborhoods:
Hello!
I’m Pranati Kompella, a research assistant at the UT Austin School of Information. I’m reaching out because we want your community perspective for an upcoming research workshop! We are studying how new transportation technology, specifically Urban Air Mobility (air taxis and metros), might affect different Austin neighborhoods because of noise generated by the vehicles. The big question: what does “fair” noise distribution look like, and who gets to decide?
We’re hosting a 3 hour long workshop in the fall where Austin community members and leaders will work together to answer this question. Note: No technical background or prior knowledge of air taxis is needed!! What we need is your lived experience and perspective as someone who knows your community. - When: late August or September 2026 (specific date TBD based on participant availability)
- Where: UT Austin iSchool (parking provided)!
If UT Austin’s campus might be inaccessible or inconvenient for you or your community members, we’d really appreciate any suggestions for a location or venue that might encourage more people to attend. We want this workshop to be as accessible as possible.- Time commitment: 3 hours
- Compensation: $50/hour for your time
