Project Connect Survey

It’s crunch time on Project Connect. Capital Metro and consultants have proposals for Orange, Blue, and MetroRapid lines, and have created “evaluation materials” and surveys:

Please review and fill out the survey(s) as you wish, but I want to point out that the survey on the Orange Line does not call attention to the fact that bus rapid transit (BRT) cannot handle the projected ridership.

For example, ridership models predict that BRT would sometimes have to refuse passengers wanting to get on at Republic Square. Also, as ridership grows, the operating cost per passenger of light rail transit (LRT) may be better due to greater capacity and the ability to add cars to each train at a lower cost than the first car in the train.

In short, I urge you to consider expressing a preference for LRT over BRT for the Orange Line.
