Hello FANs!
We’re beginning our Annual meeting, right now here online with this call to order.
The Agenda (Google Doc Link) would have been sent to all members on our mailing list a few days ago.
We’ve got a few issues on the table in that agenda that we will give updates about at our in-person meeting, but please also feel free to post any discussion topics you’d like to address in the comments below.
We’ve also got elections for our Board of Directors that will take place within the scope of this meeting. We will be taking more nominations from the floor for any more candidates wanting to run four our Board of Directors in the comments below, but all nominations and other motions from the floor will cease when we begin online voting on July 5th.
The list of candidates we currently have up for consideration of Board openings and their bios can be found in the following document: link to Bios in Google Drive.
Post away with any questions or motions for consideration. And to know exactly the scope of our Annual Meeting or any Assembly of Delegates, be sure the check out our Bylaws. I’ll be editing this upper-most post with any motions on the floor and in considerations below the line here:
Motions from the Floor:
60% Threshold of votes for each candidate running for a non-officer position will open up that seat for extra positions in the Board.
Moved by Natalie, seconded by Alysha - this is a Board issue and no further debate by membership is needed.
In person meeting component:
WHAT: FAN Social Hour and Annual Meeting
WHEN: Sunday, July 10 at 5 PM
WHERE: Stinson’s Bistro @ 4416 Burnet Rd.
[CHANGED: Flying Saucer @ 815 W. 47th St.)

If you’ll be attending the meeting on July 10th, please RSVP on the facebook event to stay up to date on the location and any other updates!
Come hang out with other Friends of Austin Neighborhoods members for our social hour and annual board election! We’ll use part of the time to hang out and part of the meeting to introduce the potential board members up for election as well as other items on the agenda. You can join for free to be a voting member (http://www.atxfriends.org/) or just come to the meeting to see what FAN is about.

In a discussion with the other board members, I proposed expanding the board if one or more of the candidates received 60% or more of the vote of the membership. This mirrors our process for determining official FAN positions.
I would like to make that motion formally now.

I would second that threshold motion such that if a person/people get 60% support from membership, those are the seats we would open on the board for the extra non-officer, director positions.
In the future if we continue on our trajectory of growth, we will hopefully have a larger membership and panel of candidates showing interest and a Board can vote to open seats before the nomination process.
The math will work out and I’m confident we’ll get engaged and diverse candidates every year.

We have two special guests! @niran will speak and take questions about the lack of housing type diversity in some of our neighborhoods and the relationship to segregation in our city. @steboknapp will present on where things stand with the effort to bring a high-ridership rail line to Austin.
We’ve changed the location. We’ll now be meeting in the events/meeting room at the Flying Saucer at the Triangle (815 W 47th St). There’s a parking garage on 46th St and easy access to transit.
