WHEN: 7PM -10PM Tonight (Feb. 6th)

(AUSTIN, Texas) — Austin City Council Candidate, Lewis Conway Jr., will be launching his city council campaign and begin fundraising alongside the people of District 1. “We are the first ever to test the limits of compassion our state officials are willing to afford, to millions of Texans with criminal justice involvement. Our campaign is the canary in the coalmine for electoral politics in Texas.

We need help from everyone who believes in a second chance and another chance for folks that have served their time and their communities.”, said Lewis recently.

“We are excited to tell folks about Our ‘District One Plan’ and what we’ll do when the People finally get elected to serve.” Lewis continued. The District One Plan is an initiative to apply many of the best practices in the promotion of participatory democracy, solidarity economy, and sustainable development and combine them with progressive community organizing and electoral politics.

The purpose of this event is to create awareness for the People’s campaign, to connect with the people of District 1, and to raise funds in order for us to employ directly impacted people to engage in electoral politics. “We are excited and encouraged by the support folks have shown Us thus far.

"We are asking folks for a $20 donation, but of course ‘every’ dollar counts and will help Us to employ formerly incarcerated and directly impacted folks to work on this campaign.” said his campaign manage Annette Price, who is also formerly incarcerated and directly impacted by the criminal justice system.

Prior to his candidacy, Lewis was convicted of Voluntary Manslaughter and spent 2,095 days in Texas prisons and 4,012 days on parole. He is married to his soulmate Nicole ‘CoCo’, they share five children, 2 grandchildren and they live in the Walnut Hills area of District 1.
