Charter amendments | Meeting this Monday

Austinites for Progressive Reform is a campaign to make Austin the most pro-democracy city in the country.

Earlier this month, we published four draft charter amendments that will lead to a more representative, diverse, responsive, and accountable city government:

  • Elect the mayor in presidential years, not midterms;
  • Move to ranked-choice voting, to eliminate low-turnout runoffs;
  • Adopt a mayor-council form of government; and
  • Create a “Democracy Dollars” program.

Details are available at austinprogress.org/amendments.

This Monday, we are hosting a meeting for FAN and AURA members to learn more about the amendments and share feedback. Here are the details:

Monday, October 5
6pm - 8pm
Registration: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZYofu6gpjkiE9HXSc1HNx72eTFtydwpQ4iq

We hope you’ll join us! And if you have any questions, please let me know or email info@austinprogress.org.

Thanks,
Andrew
