Austin Strategic Mobility Plan

The City of Austin has a team ramping up the Austin Strategic Mobility Plan (ASMP), which will serve as the long-term vision driving transportation decisions and investments. The team is interested in input from FANs, and I’ll post in this forum when they are ready to convene a meeting.

In the meantime, you can see the slide deck on the Austin Strategic Mobility Plan, what it is, why it’s important, and how the city plans to proceed in developing it.

I suggest a metrics-driven approach where we define the metrics we would use to measure success. Metrics could include vehicle miles traveled (VMT), unproductive travel time, vehicle emissions, etc. The city could model various transportation investments and project the impact on these metrics. Public input conversations would be oriented around the success metrics and transcend personal opinions.

Thoughts?
